Founded in 1991 the team was originally called Troon Basketball Club and quickly established itself as a Scottish Basketball power house.  Originally based on Marr College, the club now boasts a player pool from all over Ayrshire and the West of Scotland and has recently changed its name to Ayrshire Tornadoes in reflection of this.

The club has teams playing at national and regional level, and has won every competition available for men at national level and have produced a succession of players who have represented Scotland at various stages.

From this year 2015 our home games will be based at Dalry primary school which has excellent facilities for players and spectators alike.

In the past couple of years we have looked to grow and develop the club at grass roots level across Ayrshire with the support of partners including North Ayrshire Council, KA Leisure and Basketball Scotland.

We have had the Spalding Community Coach Programme, funded by Basketball Scotland, and we extended this successful programme by confirming additional external funding from the Lottery’s Awards For All grant. This has helped us attract young people from a wider range of backgrounds and from a wider geographical spread to participate in the sport. Within our five year development plan we have identified this as the main way in which we plan to grow and develop as a club. This includes our Club Champion programme which is being launched in 2015. More information is available on our Club Championship programme in the section of the web site devoted to this.
